Re: After round 36/50 (72%) = 2903.45 Elo, +130.94 (Nr.17)
Hi there,
not easy to win a game for the others, high move average, nice playing style ... like that in special for C00-C99 openings a fantastic style. Big problem the preview version has ... often no reaction after opening book moves ... fixed, stop.
Very very nice what I can see here!
My congratulation ... a wonderful engine in TOP-20 with a complete other style in comparing to the others. In my opinion the deal of the year in 2016 in question ... I have it on my hard disk!
My special thanks to the programmer of Booot for such a good and interesting work!!

Re: After round 36/50 (72%) = 2903.45 Elo, +130.94 (Nr.17)
Hi Alex,
I have to say thanks.
Forgotten:
No technical problems after around 1.850 games. 21 games replayed, bad opening lines I cancelt with "F" in my book. 22 games replayed (double ECO codes with the same results). 6 games replayed ... games with draw undo move 20 ... such games replayed too. 4 time loses ... 2 from ICE, 1 from Atlas and NirvanaChess ... no time loses from Booot. Such games replayed too.
Eval after three moves after opening book is very balanced. In one of the games vs. ICE I saw a bad move 1-2 moves later after opening book moves from Booot. Perhaps you have interest to check that later, means this game. Not at home, but this opening is interesting if I remember me.
Best
Frank
Yes, all games checked in the night! I do it for each engine I pick in my list. But at the moment I haven't many time for chess. So I had a Booot night and have checked all played games, all in one!
Games will be available after 2450 games (test-run ended) in two days I think.
And to the replayed games ...
I optimate my opening book with games by engines since three years. So my book is after each test-run better. On a very high level today ... can be see if you check the games.
I have to say thanks.

Hi Frank,
I appreciate your work. It is a very interesting and accurate rating list based on a lot of games.
OTOH, I'd like to try your opening book, but it is in Shredder format. As I use Winboard for my testing, could you provide it in a polyglot format?
Best regards,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,
I am working around one hour daily since three years on my book in *.bkt format for Shredder Classic GUI. To many changes again and again and I can't reproduce all that what I do. I try more times to create a complete new book with a new documantation with the material I have. I can do that but the main problem is that all that need again min. 500 hours (think so). At the moment I have so many private things to do and happy if I have time to update the rating list. Next year after winter I have in my brain to start a new book with new ideas. For the moment I try to make the book I have in *.bkt format better and better.
But I am very happy about your comments and hope you have for the moment fun with the work others do in book development. I am mate with the still running activities for the moment.
Best and thanks again!

You are welcome Frank. You do a great job and I appreciate also your comments about the style of the engines, not everything is stats and numbers.
I don't want you to expend too much time on this. Maybe there is a way to convert your bkt book to a bin format, or maybe convert it to pgn, so I can make a bin book with polyglot.

Re: *.bkt opening book format
Hi Carlos,
good is a readable *.txt format too. You can try it out under Shredder GUI in *.txt format and you can see all the changes I do or you can search for an example the moves I deactivated with "f" ... bad lines or "e" fast draw lines.
I wrote Stefan a short mail for around 6 months!!
I wish me that I can delete all in one. All the lines I deactivated with "e" and "f" in a readable *.txt book format. Stefan is working on Shredder engine with full power (more important I know) but I hope that Stefan find the time in the future for my wish. His opening book format is in my opinion great and I am thinking with new Shredder GUI versions more People will be used Shredder GUI. GUI is perfect for eng-eng matches, Fritz GUI is too buggy for hardcore engine testing. And Arena is for myself my old love ... never I will touch it again after so many years hard work in Arena development ... my work here ended and if I start my old love I have again 100 ideas to make it better and can't sleeping.
Means ...
At first all with "e" and "f" should be deleted from *.txt file and as second step from the results a *.pgn file.
This one should be perfect and with such a *.pgn file all can be used for other GUIs and I haven't many work to create a new book because all that what I have in *.bkt file is perfect for eng-eng matches ... OK, I think to 95%-97% or a bit more after three years optimizations.
I made a test in the last days.
Brainfish haven't better results with my book vs. the new own book idea comparing to Stockfish because my book started with equal positions and this equal positions are very good optimated for all of the TOP-50 engiens and not for one engine alone.

Re: *.bkt opening book format
Hi Carlos,
but one problem my book have ... all the time!
Very difficult to changed that because I have all the move transposition included. Around 5% to many A00-A99 games. I hope I find this year the time for a good fix.
Really a problem because most move transposition are building with A00-A99 lines. So I created for around three months a test file with A00-A99 openings only and created from this one a *.txt file with all the move transpositions. I think 50 hours work and I have it. But again, at the moment I am happy if I can hold the still running test-runs and my rating list is working with the normaly book work I do daily in searching bad lines.
Normaly A00-A99 is good optimated but A00-A99 is unpopulare in GM theory. 13-14% of games only. In my database around 20%. So all the time I am not sure ... should I invested the time for a possible fix or should I do nothing here?

but one problem my book have ... all the time!
Very difficult to changed that because I have all the move transposition included. Around 5% to many A00-A99 games. I hope I find this year the time for a good fix.
Really a problem because most move transposition are building with A00-A99 lines.
