WB2UCI

Post by BrendanJNorman »

Just wondering...

Can ANY winboard engine be made to work inside the Fritz GUI using the WB2UCI method?

If so, is there a tutorial somewhere online about how to do this?

I really love some of the old Chessbase engines like Deep Fritz 10, Hiarcs 8 Bareev, Junior 7 etc, but don't wanna lose my winboard engines too!

I'm sure you get the picture.

Can anybody point me in the right directon or give some advice?

Thanks very much in advance.

As I understand it WB2UCI is designed for just that purpose. It can act as a UCI proxy for any WB engine.

Fantastic. So is there something out there like a "WB2UCI: for complete newbies"?

You download this engine from the collection of JIM ABBLET:

http://kirr.homeunix.org/chess/engines/ ... tt/zzzzzz/
specifically this: zzzzzz-351-ja.zip

Within this folder has tutorials and examples:
\zzzzzz-351-ja\Windows\Wb2Uci Docs\

Many or most winboard engines can be run in the Fritz/shredder/Craftychess/Lokasoft gui's etc but not all and some engines will not run with it at all..some engines only run in Fritz with the wb2uci adapter..many work best as a pure winboard setup (ex arena or Lokasoft or craftychess) there is a list of engines and their wb2uci settings..but alot is tinkering and a bit of testing and trial and error...AR :)
