From the CCC archives, I searched with some regular expressions what seems to be a FEN string.
There are 46692 lines in the file but probably a lot of double and illegal FEN.

There are some tools in this archive written by my friend Les Fernandez that will diagnose problems in that file for you. Do not run the ep stripper until you have run the EPD Filter Utility, because the stripper is sensitive to bad EPD strings.

There were 5836 errors diagnosed in that file.
Many of them are easily correctable.
For instance, an EPD string ending in:
/w
can easily be changed to
w - -
