ChessBase / Fritz interface running on Ubuntu?

Post by Norbert Raimund Leisner »

Hello together,

Mathieu wrote on http://grawok.wordpress.com/2011/12/11/ ... ous-linux/ , a French Linux chess forum:
" Si quelqu’un sait comment faire marcher chess base sur ubuntu, je suis preneur. J’ai abandonné X board avec stockfish, ainsi que Jose et Arena, tous etant bien trop rudimentaires et peu pratiques comparés à l’interface Fritz et à Chessbase"

Translation: I am the purchaser (acceptor) if anybody knows how ChessBase can be operated under Ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/ .
I have abandoned XBoard with Stockfish, in addition to José and Arena, which were all much rudimentary and little useful comparing to Fritz and ChessBase-GUI"

Any suggestions by Ubuntu-users with Wine http://www.winehq.org/
like http://askubuntu.com/questions/988/how- ... also-games ?

Best wishes,
Norbert

Chessbase 9 installed and ran ok when I tested with Ubuntu 10.10 and wine 1.3.13

Haven't tried the newer versions of wine. Basics to get you going:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wine
wine ChessbaseInstallationFile.exe
That should install chessbase (untested on newer versions of CB)
