Yes, and quite a surprise. I was totally expecting the Be6-Bd5 repetition at move 23.

All engines were suggesting 29 ... Bxb2 but the complications resulting from this move seem far from clear.

Well, after todays game, my opinion is chances are even. The difference in rating in Carlsen favor is very well compensated with Anand match experience.
If you are so sure, then bet on Anand, he has 12/5 odds compared to your estimated 5/5, a hefty win of 240% above the betted money.

Now they're starting to play real chess 8-)

A beautiful game where Anand indeed pushed harder with the black pieces but it seems that Carlsen is well prepared for the Reti Opening....

No, he DIDN'T push very hard.
37....Rd8? throws away pushing for a win.
After exchanges resulting from that, the opposite bishops make any win impossible.
I ask, WHY ON EARTH did he do that?

The black passer on the b-file is not that easy to get to the first rank Shimon....

And with the opposite coloured bishops it's most certaily a draw....

So Anand avoided the long way around and Carlsen accepted with pleasure....

Maybe, just maybe we're going to witness a more exciting chess from now on....

Shimon has a point : according to SF4 one move was certainly above a handful of other. Not by a big margin (half a pawn), but clearly it was the only move that didn't draw directly :

wow, that was very funny after move 37 Lucky for Carlsen maybe.

opposite bishops are a bit like each player having an extra piece. The one who can use his is lucky.
