Evaluation values to drive the engine

Post by velmarin »

I have started some putting ideas in an attempt to customize JukeBox (Bouquet).

I find that I lose a lot of time trying to give values to these ideas.

And wonder,
if deep interesting thing is that the engine finds an instruction that makes you pay more attention to a piece, a square, position ect, independent of the value that this movement has.
Of course always with moderate values.

When you put a new ground assessment value it as some kind of primary, say 2, 5 or 10 centypawns.
I think a lot of time is lost after trying to adjust it, when the situation might last two plays (example).

They have some method or idea.
Thank you.
