NEWS: release of RobboLito 0.20Q x64.

Post by Ajedrecista »

Hi to everybody!

Robbolito 0.20Q is now released:

http://www.chesslogik.com/robbolito.htm

Please take a look on tests before its release:

http://www.chess2u.com/t6331p15-robboli ... -available

http://immortalchess.net/forum/showthre ... 11&page=12

I think that 0.20Q version is also multi-core as 0.10 version. Those self tests of very fast games indicate an Elo improvement of at least 30 Elo over IvanHoe 9.46b. Enjoy!

Regards from Spain.

Hi,

yes it is multi-core. I'm running a hyper-bullet match against its predecessor. Few games, we'll see.

Good for chess that Kranium and Q still work on Robbolito.

Best Regards

Robbolito is GPL, isn't it? Where's the source code for these binaries?

Robbolito is Public Domain - they do not have to provide source code!

Due to Robert Houdart 'borrowing' the source code of RobboLito 0.09, Kranium has withdrawn the source code to the releases.

so it's stronger than IvanHoe, and probably #2 in the world after Houdini and before Komodo/Critter/Stockfish, which is a great performance.

but what would be far more interesting is if it was open source and multi-plateform. after all it is derived from Robbolito (or maybe IvanHoe?), which are both open source and multi-plateform.

the whole point of IPPOLIT was to make a program that is open source, freely usable in anyway you want, and that beats all commercial and proprietary programs, especially the arrogant Rybka fraud

so closing the source code in this way is betraying what the project stands for...
Theory and practice sometimes clash. And when that happens, theory loses. Every single time.

Hi Lucas-

in the 'spirit' of Ippolit, i released ~20 versions on Chesslogik over the last 3 years, all versions were open-source with GPL attached...
it was a very gradual and well documented progression of development (detailed on my website).

Sentinel and I started with the original Ippolit release (RobboLito-0.085f1a) in 2009, which was written in difficult Albanian dialect, and was frought with problems...it barely compiled and ran even on Linux...
complete history can be found here:
www.chesslogik.com/robbolito.htm

i closed the source only recently, 'only' after information and disassembled code showing that Houdini started with Chesslogik Robbolito 0.085g3 was published...
http://www.open-chess.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1647
(please pay special attention the many dissasembed code fragment comparisons beginning on page 2)

in addition, a well known International chess master apparently copied our Robbolito 0.085g3 source code release, claiming it as his own original engine, and entered it into the 2010 World Computer Chess Championship...
for details, please see 'The Espin case' here:
http://www.chessvibes.com/plaatjes/Clon ... th2011.pdf

in light of this, i think my actions here are quite reasonable...

i believe very strongly in the Decembrists movement, and in many ways have lead/championed the effort to have it IvanHoe recognized and accepted

it's not I that 'blacklisted' Ippolit for years without any proof of wrongdoing...
i really think the talkchess entrenched establishment ought to 1st look at Houdini, and then in the mirror when pointing any fingers
