Pro Deo 1.8

Post by matejst »

I made a quick search and didn't notice the topic. Perhaps it was very obvious, but I didn't see it.

Anyway, Ed published a new version of Pro Deo.

Thanks Ed! I like your engine very much, and I hope you will continue improving it.

I downloaded it, but I don't guess I will ever get to use it. I know how to convert Winboard to UCI- with the wb2Uci exe and I know how to set the file up correctly. ProDeo is the only one I never did myself- because it is much more complicated than usual ones- and I am not much more smart. I asked Ed if I could just switch out executables with the one in 1.74 and rename the folder, but he said he doesn't recommend that- but anyway you can't do it with this one. You don't install some necessary stuff.

Oh well, I guess I can only dream of it. :( :( :(

Happy for you, tho- (yes, they are real tears- thanks for asking)

george

PS: ProDeo was first non-native chessbase engine I ever had installed, years & years ago. And I remember some really nice logos especially made for me. Oh well, maybe someone can use them.

Hi George,

It's much more simple : You just install it under Fritz GUI and select the Rebeluci.exe. That's it !

No configuration and it works really fine.

I will post here some long games with Pro Deo 1.8 (180 minutes games) when I'll have time to run them.

Cheers,

Gab

i use it with arena and it works fine without any further work. just add "rebeluci.exe" just like any other engine and choose UCI Protocol. then restart arena (i don't know why, but PD refuses to work correctly without a restart on my system).

Ah, good news! :D Thanks for the information. Does someone know what's new with this version?

This link will be useful for you:

http://www.top-5000.nl/prodeo.html
ProDeo 1.8
July 2012
Considerable stronger than version 1.74
Release Notes 1.8
July 6, 2011

1. Based on self-play (3200 x blitz 1+1) an improvement of 60 elo.

2. What this means in practice against a pool of other engines is hard to predict.

3. From what we have seen in the past it will be somewhat less most of the time.
Programmer code (ideas taken from external sources)

ProDeo 1.8
Stockfish 2.11
evaluate.cpp line 192
Added the principle of safe_queen_checks to King Safety.
So, ProDeo 1.8 is expected to be at least 40 Elo stronger than 1.74 version (it is just a random guess). It also implements an idea extracted from SF 2.1.1.

Thanks for the new release, Ed.

Regards from Spain.
