Protej 0.5.7

Post by Brunetti »

After a 3-year stop, 1 month spent to understand my code  and 2 months coding, Protej 0.5.7 is now available, here: http://protej.info. UCI added, tons of bugs removed. I'm expecting 100 to 200 Elo improvement.

Hi Alex,

roughly how strong do you think Protej is? Perhaps you could name a couple of other engines of similar strength?

Cheers,
Graham.

Thanks, and good website design. Will test it tonight, I hope it does support the analysis lines to be able to run it in Arena.

One other question though is that someone with the nick "Protej" as human is usually playing in main playing hall at playchess. Was wondering if that's you.

I estimate it's in the 2000 zone of CCRL scale. My PC has a pathetic N270, so my tests are not serious. Indeed, a tournament is running at my office, and tomorrow I'll have some results. I included some of the lowest CCRL ranked engines.

Code: Select all

057 test 4-2

Rank	Engine	Score	Pr
01	Protej 0.5.7 0.0/0	·
02	BigLion 2.23x 2062	0.0/0

It should, it accepts WB's setboard and UCI's position fen.

I used that nickname years ago. Now it's owned by someone else. Maybe I have one fan around there :)

The first rough performance is 2075 (in your scale). The results are in the Tournament tab of the site. Tonight I'm running a 4-round test at 8/4 with the same opponents. I removed MicroMax because it seems to have problems.

Thanks Alex. I've got it in my list for Division 8.

Cheers,
Graham.

Performance 2017, but Protej lost on time 8 times, mostly in a won position: possibly a crash, hadn't kept Arena debug, should further investigate; I thought I solved the crash problem...
