Anything about Avichess 0.8 setup? It still makes illegal moves here.

I have run it on MS W7 Pro x64 (eval version).

I have found no problems. Sample games will follow.

I installed avichess_winboard.exe with no commands (and also with the "d/ winboard" command) as a winboard engine under Arena, but it makes illegal moves from the start. I use Win XP 32bits, not sure if that is the problem.

You were right. The problem is Avichess does not accept 1'+1" TC. I tried avichess_winboard.exe with no command line, TCs G/5 and 2'+1" and it worked fine and it is a nice sparring partner for me . Maybe, I will run a gauntlet at the end of the whole tournament to see where it stands.

I noticed it, but the tournament already started and ECE 0.3 is doing very good, currently in 2nd place, no bugs, no time losses. Because this release took some years to the author, I think ECE 1.1 should be too strong for this tournament. IMO there is no point in replace 0.3, unless there is no big ELO gain in the last version.

PS: I left Dendron 0.42 on purpose to ask the following. Why is that these programs (Elo calculators) give an engine with 0 wins and 0 draws an ELO rating so big? Should not they be at the bottom of the list, no matter who they faced? EloStat also gave a similar rating to Dendron.

Due to the nature of how Bayeselo works, each pairing is assumed to have
2 draws ( this is the default prior ) in addition to the actual results of that
pairing. If Dendron played 10 different opponents, then it would have 0 wins,
10 losses , and 20 draws in Bayeselo's calculation. I'm not certain if this
will make a difference in this case, but use covariance instead of exactdist.

In any case, the lack of any wins by Dendron and the small amount of games
it played makes its inclusion into the ratings list difficult to accurately
calculate for the ratings programs.
