Re: Umko 0.1
So Umko looks like it's a more up to date version, but is essentially further development of BBChess?BBChess (Umko) was completely rewritten and it is published on sourceforge

Re: Umko 0.1
Perhaps it's new because it's completely rewritten? Just like Glaurung 1 -> Glaurung 2 which people claimed that 2nd version was like entirely new engine and doesn't deserve the same name at all.Graham Banks wrote:So Umko looks like it's a more up to date version, but is essentially further development of BBChess?BBChess (Umko) was completely rewritten and it is published on sourceforge
Someone should ask the author about whether this is completely separate entity or not.

The engine indeed appears to play at Division 3 or higher.beachknight wrote:Yes, Swami. Just take a look:

Doesn't work for me either. Just thinks without ever moving. Also eventually begins to use any spare cpus that are available.perejaslav wrote:playing mode not working

Re: Umko 0.1
I guess that this is what happens when authors test the engine only in test suites and not in games as I suggested in the programming forum.perejaslav wrote:playing mode not working

You get engines that are very strong but cannot play chess
