New Exachess

I recently saw an updated Exachess at http://exachess.com/

Version 4.0.2 is quite good in my view. The author seems to have fixed problems with loading large cbf files (I tried with a 500,000 game database of strong players). In addition, the tree (in chess assistant style) and position indexes do work well. Some bugs from previous versions seem to have been fixed. Also UCI engines do work well in my tests.

This now seems to be a good alternative to Chessbase or Scid but is sadly only released for the Mac.
