I just didn't grow up with it like most of Canadians. I grew up watching and playing football and basketball.
It's a great sport, but I don't follow it. The only american sport I developed a taste for is american football.
I like all fighting sports too (chess included. Big fan of UFC. Tried MMA myself. Got chocked so hard by a 100kg beast that I was eating through a straw for 3 weeks. Needless to say, I retired after that
