My current guess as to the progress of the perft(13) run is that it is about 4/5 of the way done and that it should complete in early August 2012, about one year after it was started. This is a bit longer than I had first estimated; it appears that the draft eight calculations with both sides advancing a center pawn in early ply take about four times as long as those which do not. This effect was much less with perft(12) and I'll guess that it will be much more with perft(14).

Perft(11) for 1 d3 d5 is 14,915,052,041,878,031. This is the first of the sixteen "hard" draft 11 counts generated and is also the largest draft 11 count to date.

After 43 weeks:

The run has produced 679,913 draft 8 records, about 83% of the total needed. The average draft 8 record generation time is about 38.2 seconds.

There are now 243 draft 11 records, 60.75% of the 400 needed. The average draft 11 record generation time is about 29.7 hours.

With 686,367 draft 8 records, the run is now in it's final sixth and has been recently averaging about 1,100 draft 8 records per day.

There have been a few electrical outages due to rain and the fact that the power lines in New Hampshire retain integrity mostly only in dry, sunny, and wind-free weather. Every power cycle causes a loss of all the draft 7 (and lesser) records.

My guess is that the next draft 12 record will be for 1 f4 as 14 of its 20 draft 11 dependents have completed. We'll see in a couple of weeks.

Perft(11) for 1 e3 d6 is 16,408,433,376,099,590. This is the second of the sixteen "hard" draft 11 counts generated and is also the largest draft 11 count to date.
