Just went mad and bought an Apple iPad3...very sharp resolution.
I bought it for stuff other than online chess, but I want to play on
FICS occasionally. Any advice on which interface would be nice?
Look forward to any replies.
thanks,.... Larry

Can you grab me one too. I'm seriously broke and would like one very much.AdminX wrote:Funny thing is I am planning on getting one or two (iPad 3) myself.Larry wrote:Just went mad and bought an Apple iPad3...very sharp resolution.

Will I need to buy another version of Hiarcs or can I use the one I own for the iPod? Same question goes for Stockfish. I really look forward to trying Chess books for the iPad from E plus books.

If you are only going to use FICS then ichess pack is good.I have it on iphone and find it ok.Sometimes though I find it lagging with long delays for moves to be accepted and replys from opponent to take long time.I am not sure if this is a problem with FICS or ichess-pack.I have also got the official ICC app which costs a subscription which works out to be about $1 per week for unlimited play.I find the ICC app more polished with better graphics and stable connections. Both ichess and ICC have premove option.

That's because iChessPack doesn't have the ability to connect to FICS using timeseal. It connects to the server with pure Telnet. ICC can always implement timeseal on their own app and server. There's something that iChessPack will never be able to match.Cubeman wrote:If you are only going to use FICS then ichess pack is good.I have it on iphone and find it ok.Sometimes though I find it lagging with long delays for moves to be accepted and replys from opponent to take long time.I am not sure if this is a problem with FICS or ichess-pack.I have also got the official ICC app which costs a subscription which works out to be about $1 per week for unlimited play.I find the ICC app more polished with better graphics and stable connections. Both ichess and ICC have premove option.
