SF-McBrain 3.0 Release Delayed

Post by MikeB »

Current time management is not suitable for my tastes, working on a simple fix for now until Stockfish team decides to fix it the right away.

Also rebasing to current SF, release will be a delayed few days - will shoot for next weekend.

The match below has the current stockfish versus current stockfish with the time management fix using the magic 63 opening positions hand selected from Kai's openings.

time control 30 seconds with 0.5 second increment.

Code: Select all

126 rounds and 126 games completed...
time control: 30+.50 seconds
Date: 10/14/17 : 19:02:03
126 game(s) loaded
Rank Name Rating Δ + - # Σ Σ% W L D W% =% OppR
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   1 Stockfish Time 64 POPCN 3107 0.0 12 12 126 66.0 52.4 17 11 98 13.5 77.8 3093
   2 Stockfish 141017 64 POPC 3093 14.5 12 12 126 60.0 47.6 11 17 98 8.7 77.8 3107
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Σ = total score, 1 point for win, 1/2 point for draw
Even with just 126 games, I received an 87% confidence level that this is better:

Code: Select all

ResultSet-EloRating>los
                          St St
Stockfish Time 64 POPCN 87
Stockfish 141017 64 POPC 12

Give the fact that the fix results in more conservative usage of time, I'm perfectly fine with it without further testing. Key word is simple.
