Re: Clash of the Titans
You are welcome, John! There are indeed some very interesting games going on in the tests. Ok, the draw rate is high, but that was expected when 5 engines of nearly the same strength are playing each other. Let's see if Houdini will manage to break away...

Re: Clash of the Titans
I believe with you managed to get the same treatment for the participants. I think this tournament gives us a better opportunity to compare the ability of leading engines.
Many thanks for this interesting initiative.

Stockfish and Critter are still drawing a lot:
1 Critter 1.4a x64 [t=6] +5/=31/-3
1 Critter 1.4a x64 [t=6] +5/=31/-3

Re: Clash of the Titans
Hi Jouni,
you're right - that draw was accepted far too early. For the next match series I will configure the "draw button" (in the Fritz GUI options) to "late" instead of "early".
Best regards
Timo

Re: Clash of the Titans
My first impression is that there are two very powerful engines Houdini and Komodo. Both have a solid strategy (static evoluation), and this can not be completely offset by the time (depths) in contrast to tactics.
Full of holes Stockfish's strategy confirms the end of this engine.

Here I fully agree....lech wrote:My first impression is that there are two very powerful engines Houdini and Komodo. Both have a solid strategy (static evoluation), and this can not be completely offset by the time (depths) in contrast to tactics.

It would take a radical approach from the side of Stockfish team to make a considerable improvement....
