Is that some kind of irony?

I can't believe that one calls people, who do NOT illegaly assimilate Open Source Code, idiots.
Replace "Code" by "Ideas and Techniques". And don't forget to remove "illegaly"...

The whole point of Open Source is to share ideas and techniques. Nothing wrong in using the best known ideas from Open Source. In contrary it is highly desirable!

Exactly, and not only desirable, but as showing the competence in using the new ideas, applying them to your own work, and being competitive exactly in terms of the main criteria, the strength. Being so much goal-oriented, so verifiable and falsifiable, professional, competitive CC could be defined as a harder science than many hard sciences.

Kai

Edit: Forgot about the Strelka sources, which are even easier to understand than Fruit. That would be the fourth failure of the famed professional authors. In fact, a professional failure after another.

Kai, just remember that it is extremely likely that of all the programmers who took from Fruit- if Vas did not take the least, he was damn close to it. The people on this and other forums would be floored if they actually knew how some of these paragons of virtue raided Fruit.

You have no right to demand that anyone answer a question, just because you want to demand that it be answered.

Hello Dave,

One dances on a fine line here.

At the end of it, Peter does have a right to ask his questions.

The way I see it is that an announcement is made here about an engine and gui.

That announcement I defend as a valid post.

Others then ask questions about the product, which I also think is valid.

So I guess I assert that both sides have rights, one side to announce, the other side to question the product being announced.

Peter can demand all he wants and Robert can refuse to answer all he wants.

:-)

It's OK to ask a question about Houdini - no problem with that.

It's NOT OK to keep obsessively repeating it over and over, in every post that Robert makes. The quality of the thread is shot to shit.

By now, any idiot can see that Robert does not feel compelled to reply to Peter's questions, don't you agree? And make no mistake about it, that IS Robert's freedom to choose whether to answer or not.

So it's time (past time really), for Peter to either pack it in, or take it to the correct forum -- the bitching and moaning, er - the origins of engines forum.

It was a logical step to combine the best GUI (Aquarium) with the strongest engine (Houdini), Houdini Aquarium is the result.

The package includes Houdini 2.0b, this is an update to Houdini 2 containing some minor bug fixes and Nalimov EGTB support. This update will also be made available to all current Houdini 2 users, e-mails will be sent in the following week.

Houdini Aquarium is available at a (in my opinion) very attractive price, I know of no no other hobby in which you can obtain the world's best for so little money.

Cheers,
Robert

And there is the great thing about this forum. I can ask all I want, and Robert can not reply just as often.

His problem really comes down to the general membership starting to wonder why exactly he won't answer a simple question.

If it is based on RobboLitto, then say so. Obviously no one really cares. I just want to see him say it. I want for him to finally admit that he took something, slightly improved upon it and is now trying to cash in on it.

If he has nothing to hide and the program is original, why not just answer?

If I was to ask you if you drove a Ferrari or not, you would answer one of two ways. Yes you do, or no you don't. Why can't he just confirm that everyone already suspects?

Seems odd that he won't and begs the question, what else is he hiding?

Do you remember that the origin of chess engines has it's own forum, and that subject is not the topic of this thread?

Because that topic should be out of order in THIS forum. We have a whole sub-forum for it. Use it, why don't you?

It's tiresome having it clog the General forum, and seriously degrades the quality of the threads. Nothing will be gained by keeping up the harangue - haven't we learned that by now?

Seriously, you have a whole sub forum to bitch about this in. Or, take it up with the ICGA, or with the courts, or tell Fabien to go kick Robert in the nuts - (of his telescope), whatever. There is simply no good that will come from obsessively posting your moans and morality lessons, in the General forum!

No.
Only an ancient principle, forgotten by some "new developers".
