Gentlemen,
Norman Schmidt has been banned from this forum since May of last year.I think that after such a long time he should have a chance to again participate in this forum and have a opportunity to express his opinions and if necessary defend himself.
This forum should be a place where chess enthusiasts can exchange ideas and opinions and Norman being one of the chess programmers can give his contribution to further discussions and developments of the chess engines.
It is time to make a peace between the members of this forum and try to enjoy the beauty of the chess .That is the reason we are all here
I hope that other people would support my appeal to have Norman back as a member of this chess forum and would like to thank you for your understanding.

I suggest you make your own forum, pay for the bandwidth, hosting, invest your time in setting it up... and invite whomever you want. What do you think ?

Learn to be coherent in your statements and be productive. You have contributed absolutly nothing to computer chess so why should anyone listen to you ?

Re: Time to bring Norman back
I am really getting confused. Is this a chess forum or a somebody's garden where as soon as you step in you get attacked by a angry dog.
Michael, I have only asked for a civilized discussion not for your suggestions.
If all the other members of the forum think the same I will respect their decision.
You are just the one in this forum so let's see if other agree or disagree .
BTW are your contributions to computer chess so great that you can insult Damir the way you did.Or maybe what Norman has contributed to computer chess is bothering you.

Re: Time to bring Norman back

Just becaue you're a programmer doesn't mean you can insult anyone you want.
Puleeeeze, let's be civil.
Miodrag is just giving his thoughts.
no need for insulting remarks.
this is a forum where banned people can be allowed into again.
this ain't your personal forum , izzit?
I suggest you make your own forum, pay for the bandwidth, hosting, invest your time in setting it up... and invite whomever you want. ok.
now go on and play outside.

I see, you want to hear only the opinion of people who agree with you. All others are "dogs". Thanks for clarifying this so anybody can see it.
And the answer is yes, my contributions are great.
What isult ? If he wants him back he can do it in his own forum, I can see no insult besides you calling me "DOG"

The seven months ban has been enough.

Re: Time to bring Norman back
This is interesting !
I am completely neutral regarding all this Robbo matter (of course even a blind can see a link between this request and the fact that Norman helps with Robbo development), but I am amazed of how, even in a small and focused comunity like this, politics matters assume great relevance.
My neutral opinion (take it as an external observer) is that this step was a bit risky on your side given that we are in election period and if the "wrong" mods are elected I foreseen very bad times for Robbo on this forum. This request could irritate some until now undecided people and push them to vote in one direction instead of the other and can be a boomerang for you. If I were in you I'd had wait _after_ elections to come up with this point.
Even Rolf is calming down in this period, perhaps he has more political sensibility then you

I see nothing wrong with ending/lifting Norman's ban.
