Well, Shogi is Chess, right? You might call it 'Japanese Chess', but in Japan FIDE Chess is called 'Western Shogi'. Shogi is simply the Japanese word for 'Chess', like Xiangqi is the Chinese word for 'Chess'.

Well, as far as I know, western chess is called "chess" in Japanese. It is written チェス in katakana, which can be transcribed as "chesu". Pronunciation is funny:

Mr. Habu in an interview once said that he will eventually be a Grandmaster in the two most famous form of both Chess, now he only needs to become a Western Grandmaster, probably in 4 to 5 more years
