Whether I qualify for your "notable sources / respected within the computerchess community" or not is not for me to decide, but in any case a starting point for you would be to read Vadim's own post about Gull 2.8 beta and 2.9 alpha.

Thanks, but I need notable sources from Engine Programmers (not from Testers and not from own Gull's Author :) )

I don't see much similarity between the current Gull and Ipppolit, beyond the point that they both have the coding style of being fairly terse and putting everything in one file. Gull is C++, not C, has different magic bitboard constants and code, different structures, etc. The Gull author has also implemented multi-threading. I haven't looked much at the eval but apparently it was non-original at first, but 2.8 has a re-write of that.

I would trust a competent author of an open source engine, if he claims it is original now. After a brief look, I think he is right.

Dear Experts,

Many thanks for your useful statements...

So...it seems Gull is clean... that means I should include Gull in my next SCCT Swiss tournaments

And now I need to look which chess engine (at lowest rankings of the current top 20) should be replaced....

Cheng
Gaviota
Tornado

I need to calculate again...

Best,
Sedat
