With Android 5.11 Samsung (note 5, edge plus, etc) has now made the long press of the recent apps button into the split screen button. They took away the menu button altogether.
Without the menu I can't change the number of threads or start a new game. I was hoping the developers of droidfish can create an on screen menu button to eliminate this problem.

Try long pressing a blank square that no piece can move to. You can also long press the multi window icon that is to the left of the home button.
